Tengir Too comes from Kirghizistan, a mountainous country of central Asia lying at the western end of the Tien Shan mountain range on the north-west border of China. The group plays music inspired by nomadic traditions and the mountains of their native country. Multi-instrumentalist Nurlanbek Nyshanov founded the group with the idea of bringing Kirghiz musical traditions to wider recognition.
