Philippe Prieur joined the Sabotée Sancerroise and took up the hurdy-gurdy at the age of eight with Père Dubois. At his brother's wedding he heard and saw the piper and singer Roger Péarron. Dubois and Péarron, two members of the generation that forms a link between the legendary old musicians, such as Guillemain, and the present day, became his models. Philippe studied musical theory. |
People appreciate his strong yet delicate phrasing. But he feels that performing in public is not for him. And for the moment he has recorded only one meagre cassette. He went on to appear, particularly in 1987, at a series of importantevents, including the Printemps de Bourges and the Lorient Festival. But since then : silence. |
