Gilles Chabenat thought up a story of stories, composed of a series of tales and moods. A male and a female narrator guide the audience through excerpts from the works of three great writers, all of them in some way connected with the region: George Sand, the festival's emblem, particularly with Les Maîtres-Sonneurs; Alain Fournier, the author of Le Grand Meaulnes; Nancy Huston, author of Instruments des ténèbres, who has been living in the region for many years. We therefore move from a descriptive mood to a sort of climax, from Berry and the eve of the eighteenth century to the very recent twentieth century.

" Ça continue ! ", that is the message of this musical poem, a poem that is not devoid of humour and whose aim is to remove music's sacred aura, give it room to breathe. Music sometimes gives the impression of being imprisoned or mummified; it needs to be set free, to be allowed to go on living. Gilles will probably share his open-mindedness with the whole audience, thirsting as he always is for realms that are out of the ordinary, realms that have nothing to do with fashion. And that includes not only music, but also modern art and poetry, by such virtuosos of the word as René Char and Walt Whitman. De feuilles d'herbe en seuils de verbes, la roue tourne, rien ne va plus !
